Willie McArthur Manley

WILLIE McARTHUR MANLEY was born to the late John Henry Manley and Dorothy Batchelor Manley on December 15, 1953, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He transitioned from this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

At an early age, Willie gave his life to Christ and joined the Lebanon A.M.E. Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where he remained a faithful member.

Willie’s formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from the former Eastman High School in Enfield, North Carolina. He later attended trade school and received certificates in Mechanics and Welding.

On August 20, 1977, Willie was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Doris Mason.  This union was blessed with two children. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and leader. He was a very strong and knowledgeable man with a wonderful and beautiful spirit.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by one sister, Ora Jean West.

Those remaining to forever share the great and joyous memories of his life and love are his wife, Doris Manley of the home; his son, Andr’e Mason of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his daughter, “his baby” Wilma Manley Silver (Anthony) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; five grandchildren, Quiara Silver, Monique Mason, Candace Silver, A’Leah Silver, and A’lisia Silver; two brothers, Samuel Manley (Yvonne) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and John Henry Manley, Jr. (Evelyn) of Rocky Mount, NC; one sister, Ann Jones (Dennis) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; four aunts, two uncles, two other brothers-in-law, three other sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Lebanon A.M.E. Church, 13285 NC Highway 48, Littleton, NC. Rev. Joanne Bedford Boyd will deliver the eulogy. Because of Covid-19, the CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by the wearing of masks, practicing social distancing, and limiting the number of persons in attendance.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
