William Ellis “Goo” Taylor was born on April 28, 1954, in Warren County, North Carolina, to the late Herbert Taylor, Sr. and Daisy Harrington Taylor. He departed this earthly life and entered the Heavenly realm on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at his home in Vaughan, North Carolina.
During his early life “Goo” accepted Jesus Christ and joined the Ashley Grove Baptist Church in Vaughan, North Carolina. He was educated in the Warren County Public School System and graduated from John Graham High School in Warrenton, North Carolina. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force for a short tour of duty. After being honorably discharged from Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia, in August of 1974, he returned home to Vaughan, North Carolina, and established a full-time career of driving Tractor Trailer Trucks. After many years of traveling the highways and byways, he retired in 2016, from a profession that he loved and to which he had committed a great portion of his life.
“Goo” accomplished many things during his life-time, he had a host of loyal friends, was practically loved by everyone, had a heart of gold , and it was exemplified wherever he went. He enjoyed playing basketball, loved grooming his lawn, relaxing, and enjoying his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, “Goo” was preceded in death by three brothers, John Robert, Vernon Jacob, and Fred Arthur; and one sister, Katie Roberta Towns.
Those remaining to continually treasure the precious memory of his life and to share the legacy of his love are his three sisters, Shirley Falcon (William) of Henderson, NC, Clementine Ayscue of Philadelphia, PA, and Ernestine Pierce of Louisburg, NC; his eight brothers, Herbert Taylor, James Taylor, Leroy Taylor (Maxine), Alvin Taylor (Kim), and Earnest Taylor all of Vaughan, NC, David Taylor (Renee) of Macon, NC, Harry Taylor (Doris) of Richmond Virginia, and Charles Taylor (Patricia) of Littleton, NC; a special friend, Connie Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Odell Missionary Baptist Church, 1763 Embro-Odell Road, Littleton, NC. Rev. Edward Harrington will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 6:00-7:00 P.M. The body will repose at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
