Swept Kenneth “SK” Snow, Jr. was born on September 15, 1950, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to Elberta Zollicoffer Snow and the late Swept Snow, Sr. He departed this earthly home for his heavenly home on Thursday, December 7, 2017, in Littleton, North Carolina.
Having God as an integral part of his upbringing, he was baptized and joined the Fidelity Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, during his early life, and remained a member until his demise.
“SK” was educated in the Halifax County Public School System, and graduated from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1968. He then attended Pitt Technical Institute in Greenville, North Carolina, and studied Electronics. He began employment with the former J. P. Stevens and Company of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and later served as a Corrections Officer at Caledonia Prison in Tillery, North Carolina, until ill health prevailed.
“SK’ was noted for his kind heart and gentle nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His technical and automotive repair skills were often utilized throughout the Summit Community in Littleton, North Carolina, where he grew up. Even as a child, he was always fixing radios, televisions, and any other electronic devices he could get his hands on. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, “tinkering”, and listening to music.
“SK” was always the “apple” of his mother’s eye, and all of his siblings knew without question that he was her favorite. Of course this love was two-fold, and he cherished his mother and his family. He was a loving son, a caring brother, and a dedicated father to his one and only son, Kendrick, who stuck by him and cared for him throughout his illness. To his nieces and nephews, he was “That Uncle” they could always count on to be there for them.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Snow Jackson Green; his brother, Michael Snow; two brothers-in-law, John Jackson, Jr. and Reese Green; and his sister-in-law, Jo Jean Snow.
Those remaining to forever cherish his memory are his beloved mother, Elberta Z. Snow; his devoted son, Kendrick Snow; his grandson, John Snow; two sisters, Linda Snow Sauls (Billy) and Shelia Snow Hester; one brother, Dr. Larry Snow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A visitation hour will be held at 12:00 Noon, and the funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Fidelity Baptist Church, 627 Summit Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. John Rooks, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
