Shirley Delores “Peaches” Jones

CaptureShirley Delores “Peaches” Jones answered God’s summon to eternal rest and peace suddenly on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. She was born to the late Louise Scott Jones and George Haywood Lee on November 7, 1962, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

During  her early life, she was baptized and became a member of the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the public schools of Halifax County, and she attended Northwest Halifax County High School in Littleton, North Carolina. She was employed at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, before becoming a private duty health care nurse.

“Peaches” enjoyed fishing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Reginald Bernard Lee.

Those remaining to forever cherish the loving memories of her life are her soul mate, William White of Littleton, NC; her daughter, Jennifer Jones (Lamont) of Littleton, NC; her twin sons, Kelvin Jones (Shaquenna) of the home, and Craig Jones (Nikki) of Littleton, NC; her sisters, Gail Patterson, Lois Lee, and Cassaundra Daniels (Albert) all of Littleton, NC; her brothers, James Jones and Howard Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Stevie Jones (Lee Ann) of Columbus, GA, Milton Lee (Lugeria) of Albany, NY, and Ronald Lee (Martha) and Joseph Lee (Mary Ann) all of Littleton, NC; her grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly, Jabria Pierce, Zyliah, Zyquan, and Sanai Jones all of Littleton, NC; her aunt, Pearl Branch (Edward) of Baltimore, MD; her uncle, Louis “Brick” Scott of Littleton, NC; her “children of the heart” who were very close to her, Roderick White (Courtney), Jocylen White, Yolanda White, and Timothy White; her special friend, Carrie Mae Wilkins of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Milton R. Solomon, Jr., will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Littleton. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
