SANDRA LOUISE ALSTON WILLIAMS was born to the late Edward J. Alston and Hattie Pearl Vincent Alston on October 10, 1957, in Warren County, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Sandra accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during her early life, was baptized, and became a lifetime member of the Pleasant Zion Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
In 1979, Sandra was married in Emporia, Virginia, to Cornell Williams, who preceded her in death.
Sandra’s formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System. She continued to serve Warren County and the Littleton Community by preparing delicious, nutritious meals at Warren Hills Nursing Center in Warrenton, North Carolina, and later at the Little Town Child Care Center in Littleton, North Carolina.
Sandra was very active at the Pleasant Zion Baptist Church where she served as Assistant Secretary, Choir Director for the youth, Adult Choir member, Pastor’s Aid, and Kitchen committee. She never felt that her work for the Lord was anything more than joyous, and looked forward to working in any role where she was needed.
Anyone who knew Sandra knew that she loved the Lord, adored her family, and enjoyed cooking. She also loved caring for children and became a “Second mother” to so many children with whom she came into contact through her work, family, or friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sandra was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Edward, Samuel, Charlie, and Bernard; and two sisters, Annette and Shirley.
Those loved ones remaining to forever treasure her precious memories and share the legacy of her caring heart are her longtime loving partner, Joseph “Joe” Price; her two sons, Travis Williams (Theresa) of Littleton, NC, and Cornelius Williams (Shameeka) of Rocky Mount, NC; her nephew whom she raised, Samuel Alston of Charlotte, NC; one stepson, Steven Settles (Tretiachi) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two stepdaughters, Shawneke Wilson (Markus) of Charlotte, NC, and Addie Price of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Charles Alston of Littleton, NC; three sisters, Ernestine Brown (John) of Norfolk, VA, Yvonne Carter of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Joyce Blackwell of Richmond, VA; four grandsons, two granddaughters, two step-grandsons, two step-granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 590 Enterprise Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Clinton Boyd, will deliver the eulogy. Because of Covid-19, the CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by limiting the number of persons in attendance. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
