Sallie Rae Pulley Allen


Sallie Rae Pulley Allen, affectionately called, “Sallie Rae”, entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at her home in Hollister, North Carolina. She was born in Halifax County, North Carolina, on July 11, 1951, to the late Leroy Pulley and Lizzie Williams Pulley.

During her early life, she professed faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in the Arcola Community of Warrenton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the public schools of Warren and Halifax Counties.

“Sallie Rae” was united in Holy Matrimony to Pett Allen, Jr. She obtained numerous jobs in Baltimore, Maryland, before returning home to Hollister, North Carolina, where she became employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant until her health began to fail.

“Sallie Rae” was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and being the babysitter for the family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Her earthly presence will be greatly missed and forever remembered by everyone whose life she touched in so many special ways.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mollie Spruill and Bettie McCormick; and her brothers, George and Robert Pulley.

Those left with many memories and special moments to recall are her daughter, LaTarsha Pulley of Hollister, NC; two granddaughters, Cierra Pulley and Aniya Nicholson of Hollister, NC; one stepson, Damon Allen of Wilson, NC; one godson, Tyki McCormick of Hollister, NC; two nieces she raised as her own, Patricia and Tara Spruill of Hollister, NC; two sisters, Emma Pulley of Hollister, NC, and Viola Perry (Colbert) of Baltimore, MD; four brothers, James Pulley of Hollister, NC, William Pulley (Connie) of Baltimore, MD, Sterling Pulley (Brenda) of Littleton, NC, and Stanley Pulley (Nancy) of Chesapeake, VA; three aunts, Lillie Alston of the Arcola Community, Irene Alston of Macon, NC, and Alice Williams of Colonial, NJ; four sisters-in law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a very dear friend, James Manley of Hollister, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Shiloh Baptist Church in the Arcola Community of Warrenton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Kenneth Richardson, Sr., will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home.
