Roberta Johnson Silver, daughter of the late Horace Johnson and Cora Hedgepeth Johnson, was born on October 1, 1953, in Warren County, North Carolina. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at her home in Hollister, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family, He gently closed her eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine”.
Roberta was educated in the Warren County Public School System, and during her early life, she joined the White Rock Baptist Church in Hollister, North Carolina.
Roberta’s most precious moments were spent cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched in so many special ways.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-seven years, John Joseph “Johnnie” Silver.
Those remaining to forever cherish the precious memory of her life and share the legacy of her love are two daughters, Theresa Lynch (Joseph) of Hollister, NC, and Janie Pulley (Rondell) of Rocky Mount, NC; one son, Joseph Silver of the home; two stepchildren, Linda Lynch of Enfield, NC, and John Silver of Henderson, NC; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Corine Lynch (Robert) of Hollister, NC, and Wilhelmia Johnson of Warrenton, NC; three brothers, Horace Johnson (Wilhelmia) and William Johnson all of Warrenton, NC, and Calvin Johnson of Hollister, NC; three other sisters-in-law, Barbara Silver, Mary Hedgepeth (Eddie), and Lou Roberson (Hilton); four other brothers-in-law, Robert Silver (Mary), Willie Silver (Deborah), James Silver, and David Silver (Horace); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the White Rock Baptist Church in Hollister, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Alonzo West, will officiate, and Rev. Wilson Battle will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the former White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery in Hollister, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 1:00 – 8:30 P.M. and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
