REGINALD LEVON HARRIS, affectionately known as “Red”, began his journey with life on November 7, 1967, in Littleton, North Carolina, and was born to the late Ernest Harris and Burnice Rosser Harris.
After a lengthy illness, Reginald’s earthly life’s journey came to a peaceful close on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, North Carolina. During his illness, he became a resident of Accordius Health at Scotland Manor in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.
Reginald accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior during his early life, was baptized, and became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1987.
Throughout his life, Reginald exemplified strong work ethics and became employed with Blue Flame Convenience Store in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, the State of North Carolina, Veneer Mill of Weldon, North Carolina, and the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where he remained until ill health prevailed.
Reginald enjoyed gardening, fishing, working on cars, salvaging old bikes to repair to give to those who needed them, and was proud to show off his craftsmanship. He possessed a very quiet nature, always greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word, and was known for his generosity in helping others. His warmth and humbleness of spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Earnestine Harris and Mary Eula Harris Powell.
Reginald’s memory will live forever through his five sisters, Dorothy M. Harris, Florine Harris, and Christina H. Alston (Eugene), all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Delois H. Vick (Bryan) of Littleton, NC, and Patricia H. Underdue (Terry) of Raleigh, NC; his three brothers, Earnest D. Harris of Littleton, NC, James L. Harris (Barbara) of Lawrenceville, VA, and Randolph Harris of Elizabeth City, NC; another brother-in-law, Lynford Powell of Virginia Beach, VA; sixteen nieces and nephews, Marc, Kalvi, Shernita, Terrence, Trevor, Rashida, Earnest, Anzell, Jasmine, Terry, Jr., Jarvis, Johnathan, Kyra, Da’Quan, Devion, and Deliza; twenty great-nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. C.E. McCollum will officiate, and burial will follow in the Fidelity Baptist Church Cemetery in Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M, and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
