Ralph Jones, the last of the eight children of Hubert Jones and Jesse Jones, was born on June 14, 1930, in Halifax County, North Carolina., and departed this earthly life on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
During his early life, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Odell Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System. He was employed as an attendant with the railroad station, the movie theater, and in the pulpwood industry.
Ralph was united in marriage to the former Emma Haynes for fifty-nine years. He enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, checkers, and completing word puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Larry Haynes; five brothers, Owen, Joe Louis, Clyde, Ezekiel, and Herbert Jones; and two sisters, Bertha Fobbs and Sallie Bet Daniels.
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of his life and love are his devoted wife, Emma H. Jones of the home; his daughters, Carolyn Braxton of the home, and Sophronia Boney (Greg) of Rocky Point, NC; his sons, Michael Jones (Ann) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Sidney Jones (Janice) of Durham, NC, Rodney Jones of Florida, and Robert Jones of the home, whom he raised as his own; one sister-in-law, Lillian Haynes Williams of Florida; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his special friends, Johnny Mack Patterson, and Hubert and Martha Carroll; and his dedicated caregiver, Shaquita “Plum” Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton, NC. Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr. will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the South Street Baptist Church Cemetery, Bacon Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, until 8:30 P.M.
