NETTIE GRAY WILLIAMS ALSTON was born to the late Jessie Williams and Elnora Pulley Williams on May 6, 1952, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Monday, September 5, 2016, at her home in Littleton, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
During her early life, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. She began her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System, and graduated from Fairmount Hill High School in Baltimore, Maryland.
Nettie was employed for thirty-seven years at the Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, Maryland. She was also a faithful servant of the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church in Maryland. After returning to North Carolina, she renewed her fellowship with Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, Missionary and served on several other auxiliaries. She was employed with “A Catered Affair” in Littleton, North Carolina, until her passing.
Throughout her Christian journey, she found comfort in her favorite song “Walk Around Heaven All Day”, and her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of her life and the legacy of her love are her husband, John Alston of the home; her daughter, Cynthia McNair of Baltimore, MD; her son, Andre’ McNair, Sr., of Baltimore, MD; five stepdaughters, Delores Morgan, Michelle Alston, Brenda Allen, Kim Henderson, and Yvette Johnson; seven grandchildren, Raimeek Tait, Brianna Wiggins, Brian Wiggins, Jr., Andre’ McNair, Jr., Darnell Young, Shaniya Crank, and Gabriel Johnson; additional grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jessie Williams, Jr. and Lemuel Williams; three sisters-in-law, Mary Yates, Ethelane Ferbee, and Bessie Clemons; a very close and dear niece, Darlene Jackson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will all miss her earthly presence.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, 8202 US Highway # 4 in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Jeffrey Anderson, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Price Family Cemetery in Littleton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, and a viewing will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
