Deacon Micah Anthony Dowtin

Deacon Micah Anthony Dowtin was born to the late Samuel Dowtin and Mary Elizabeth Brown Dowtin on April 14, 1959, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He was called to eternal rest and peace on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

Micah was educated in the Halifax County Public School System and graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1977. His passion led him to become a skilled carpenter, and he was employed in this field in Wake County, North Carolina, until his health began to decline.

Micah gave his life to Jesus Christ and joined in fellowship with the First Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. He later became a member of The Refuge Church, Apostolic Faith in Littleton, North Carolina, and served faithfully as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

On April 5, 2005, Micah was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Ernestine Martin.

In addition to his parents, Micah was preceded in death by his brother, Larry; two aunts, Ellen and Mamie; his niece, LaKysha; and his father-in-law, Bishop Fred Martin, Sr.

Those loved ones remaining to forever treasure the precious memories of his life are his dedicated wife, Ernestine; his son, Micah; his daughter, Cynika; seven grandchildren; two great-granchildren; two brothers, Samuel (Lizzie) and Reuben; three sisters, Barbara, Eloise, and Mary Ruth (Maurice); twenty-one nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, a devoted mother-in-law, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, his church family, and a host of friends from the Littleton community.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at The Refuge Church, Apostolic Faith Cemetery in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Elder Fred Martin, Jr.  will deliver the eulogy. Because of Covid-19, the CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by limiting the number of persons in attendance. A viewing will be held from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Friday, May 8, 2020. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
