Mary Alice Taylor

MARY ALICE TAYLOR was born on March 23, 1943, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the late Catherine Taylor. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Mary Alice accepted Jesus Christ during her early life and became a member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and she graduated from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina.

One of Mary Alice’s greatest passions was caring for her family who was most important to her. She was an extremely kind, loving person who was a joy to be around, and she always found the good in everybody. She will be greatly missed for baking her scrumptious sweet potato pies, mouth-watering fried chicken, and especially those delicious homemade biscuits!

In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Eloise, James, Marylene, Nathaniel, Margaret, and Melvin.

Those remaining to forever treasure her precious memory and share her loving spirit are her children, Susan Taylor of New York, Leonard-Mark Taylor (Fridah) of Queens, NY, and Elaine Taylor of the home; her five grandchildren, Shaquena, Sharetta, Latavious, Shahai, and Meembe; one great-grandchild, Kaleb; two brothers, Eddie Taylor of New York, and Leroy Taylor of Brooklyn, NY; one sister, Esther Taylor of New York; one sister-in-law, Helen Taylor of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one brother-in-law, Gerard Winston of Brooklyn, NY; three special nieces whom she raised as her very own, Carolyn, Danyelle, and “Joneka” Taylor; and a host of other nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the Enon Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Moore Street, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Fred Thorpe, will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 17, 2018, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. The body may also be viewed at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
