Mamie G. Walker of Littleton, North Carolina, passed away just shy of ninety-two years on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olivia Gundy and Eugene Gundy, and six of her siblings.
Mamie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Floyd Allen Walker who also preceded her in death. To that blessed union, seven children were born: Gloria, Floyd, Brenda, Valorie, Barney, Duane, and Saundra.
Mamie was a devoted mother and friend to many, as well as, a successful entrepreneur. She opened her heart and home to many. While running her business, Walker Family Care, she cared for and nurtured many elderly women in the comfort of her home for more than thirty years.
In her spare time, she was a devoted and passionate pianist. For many years, she played for Olive Grove Missionary Baptist and Elam Baptist Church. Her other interests were traveling the world, growing beautiful flowers, and being with her children and family. Mamie’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and friends.
Her celebration of life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 915 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Charles E. Walton, will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The viewing hour will begin at 11:00 A.M, followed by the funeral service.
