Lucille Bowers Harvey was born to Elizabeth Alston Bowers and the late James Edward Bowers, Sr. on March 4, 1949, in Warren County, North Carolina, and departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
During her early life, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and she attended the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina.
Lucille was united in Holy Matrimony to William E. Harvey, Sr. She had a deep and special love for her children and enjoyed cooking for them. Hanging out with family members and friends was a great joy to her, and she continued this spirit of fellowship until her health began to fail.
In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Melvin L. Bowers; and her sister, Virginia L. Bowers Williams.
Those remaining with treasured memories of her life and love are her children, William L. Harvey, Jr., Velvet Powell (James), and James R. Harvey all of the home; three grandchildren, Shakita N. Harvey of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Di’Quan S. Garner and DeMazea’ L. Harvey all of the home; one adopted grandchild she called her own, Tamaje Z. Jefferson; her mother, Elizabeth Bowers of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three sisters, Martha Taylor (John) of Littleton, NC, Madelene F. Bowers (Timothy) of Halifax, NC, and Marie Jefferson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one brother, James E. Bowers, Jr. of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Timothy Edwards will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M on Monday, August 3, 2015.
