Louise Harris Coley

It is no secret what God can do. Very quietly and peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015, God granted an unspoken desire for LOUISE HARRIS COLEY to move to Heaven. Her assignment on this side of Jordan is now complete. She was born to the late William Henry and Dorothy Harris on May 5, 1927, in Littleton, North Carolina.

Her formal education was received at the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ in Littleton, North Carolina. After relocating to Baltimore, Maryland, she became a member of the Ray of Hope Baptist Church.

Louise and her brothers, the late William and Howard Harris, lost their mother during their early lives. Their grandmother, Rose Price, and their uncle and aunt, Moses and Addie Price, raised them along with their nine cousins. There were so grateful to all of them.

Louise late met and married Lue Henry Coley, who preceded her in death. Their love story began in Littleton, North Carolina, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 19, 1947. From their union of forty years, they were blessed with a daughter and a son, Shirley Coley and Milton Coley.

Louise retired from Johns Hopkins Hospital after thirty-two years of dedicated service. She received the Baker King award for outstanding service to the hospital.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and an excellent great-grandmother. She had a very warm, caring, loving, and giving spirit.

Those left to forever cherish the precious memories of her life are her daughter, Shirley Coley Washington (Calvin); her son, Milton Coley (Deborah); two granddaughters, Raquel Jefferson (Steed) and Teacha Sedgwick (Larry, Jr.); five great-grandchildren; Steed, Jr. and Tyler Jefferson, and Justin, Keiera, and Aiden Sedgwick; her special cousin, Annie Mae Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, relatives, and friends who will all miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the funeral home. Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr., will officiate, and burial will follow in the Coley Family Cemetery in Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, January 16, 2015.
