Lillian Boyd Tibbs, 94, formerly of Littleton, North Carolina, peacefully departed this earthly life and entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Transitions Lifecare of Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Addie Mae Boyd and the late Branster Patterson on January 18,1926, in Halifax County, North Carolina.
Lillian was educated in the Halifax County Public School System. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. After relocating to Baltimore, Maryland, she joined the Southern Baptist Church and became a faithful member.
Lillian was united in Holy Matrimony to Francis “Jim” Tibbs, who preceded her in death.
Lillian was employed at Bata Shoe Company in Maryland for numerous years until her retirement. After residing in Maryland for many years and the death of her husband, she decided to return home and live in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Lillian had a sweet gentle spirit, loved sharing memories of her family, and had a great love for sports. She especially enjoyed watching baseball and football games.
Those remaining to cherish the precious memories of her life are her godchildren, Hettie Davis (Jerome) of Waxhaw, NC, Roger Boyd (Velita) of Oxford, NC, Gloria Boyd of Concord, NC, Alvinia Boyd of Cary, NC, Mary Boyd-Thomas of Raleigh, NC, and Carolyn Boyd of Durham, NC; her great-godchildren, Devin Davis (Erin) of Concord, NC, Cambrielle Thomas of Raleigh, NC, and Christopher Davis of Waxhaw, NC; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly, including her “little sister”, Annie Pearl of Baltimore, MD.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church Cemetery, 3606 Roper Springs Road, Littleton, NC. Reverend Danny Jones will deliver the eulogy. Because of Covid-19, the CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by the wearing of masks, practicing social distancing, and limiting the number of persons in attendance. A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
