Lenward Alston

LENWARD ALSTON, son of the late Emmitt Alston, Sr. and Mamie Hines Alston, was born on June 3, 1935, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He answered God’s summon to enter his eternal home on Thursday, September, 19, 2019, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

During his early life, he professed faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.

Lenward was employed as a truck driver for Rightmyer Machine Rental in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where he retired after thirty years of loyal, dedicated service. His motto for life was, “Help them if you can!”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vinnie Lee Alston; two sons, Calvin Hendricks and Leonard Alston; four sisters and three brothers.

Those remaining to forever cherish the precious memories of his life are two sons, James C. (Lorraine) and Craig (Jamie) all of Littleton, NC; one daughter, Cheryl of Littleton, NC; eight grandchildren, Jammie, Daryl, Daniel, Cordero, Craig, Cedric, Tamara and Zamara; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Velma Lee; two brothers-in-law, Benjamin Baker and Donnie Alston; one special niece, Doris Whitaker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2019, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Danny Jones will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon -8:30 P.M. on Friday, September 27, 2019, and the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.
