Lee Doris Waiters Carpenter Lee

LEE DORIS WAITERS CARPENTER LEE passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020, in the serenity of her home in Littleton, North Carolina. She was born to the late Jake Waiters, Sr. and Annie May Dunlap Waiters on May 4, 1946, in Montgomery County, North Carolina.

“Lee Lee”, as she was affectionately called, was educated in the Montgomery County Public School System. She traveled with her first husband, the late Alvester Carpenter, and was employed as a Nurse’s Aide. After relocating to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, in 1976, she worked for Dr. Fowler as a Home Health Nurse and remained for fifteen years until he and his wife passed.

“Lee Lee” was an active member of the Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and diligently served with the food ministry until ill health prevailed.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing “Lee Lee” felt her nurturing spirit. She helped anyone she could, providing rides to doctor appointments, grocery stores, and senior citizens events.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Angela Waiters and Patricia Butler; four siblings, Maxine Hall, Ada Coles, Jake Waiters, Jr., and John Herbert Waiters; her affectionately loved parents, TC and Rosa Carpenter.

Those remaining to forever share the  legacy of her love and the precious memories of her life are her husband, Carlton Lee of Littleton, NC; her daughters, Nona Capel (Lester) of Yorktown, VA, and Pamela Jackson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her sons, Alester Carpenter (Chandella) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Steven Carpenter of Littleton, NC; another son-in-law, Criag Bulter of Copperas Cove, TX;  her affectionate son, William Jackson of Littleton, NC.; her maternal granddaughter, Paquita Scott (Leontre) of Hampton, VA; her maternal great-granddaughter, reared as a daughter, Tasantia “Tia Lynn” Carpenter of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her granddaughters, Latoshia Capel, Mikaya Butler, Morgan Carpenter, Kira Carpenter, and Kalea Jackson; her grandsons, Keane Jackson and Jerrell Butler;  twelve great-grandchildren; her siblings, Nannie Williams, Clifton Waiters (Nettie), Bernie Waiters (Roberta), Carolyn Waiters Barringer (Cecil), and Quinzel Waiters (Virginia); her affectionate siblings, James Carpenter (Katie), Samuel Lee Carpenter, Willard Carpenter (Audrey), Sharon Young, Sarawaii Carpenter (Loretta), Vanessa C. McLaurin, Denise Carpenter, and Naomi Drake (Larry); her brothers-in-law, Robert E. Lee, Linwood Lee, Sr., and John Harrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her affectionate friend, Fonda Watson.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1991 Roanoke Chapel Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Timothy Edwards, will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
