Howard Scott “Bo Joe” Jones

HOWARD SCOTT “BO JOE” JONES was born to the late Louise Scott Jones and George Haywood Lee on December 7, 1959, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly  life on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg, North Carolina.

During his early years, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized, and became a member of the Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.

His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System. He attended William R. Davie Middle School where he played football under Coach Carey Foster, who gave him the name “Monster Man” because he played the line-backer position with such  furious intent. He loved playing sports and watching his favorite football team, The Miami Dolphins.

As a young man, “Bo Joe” began employment at Robinson Grocery in Littleton, North Carolina. He was eventually trained as a truck driver by the late James Burgess and drove for several trucking companies until he sustained an injury that ended his career.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Delores “Peaches” Jones; and his brother, Reginald Lee.

Those remaining to forever cherish the memory of his life are his brothers, James “Sweet” Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Stevie Jones (Lee Ann) of El Paso, Texas, Milton Lee (Lugeria) of New York, and Joseph Lee (Mary Ann) and Ronald Lee all of Littleton, NC; his sisters, Gail Patterson, Lois Lee, and Cassaundra Daniels (Albert) all of Littleton, NC; his uncle, Louis “Brick” Scott of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends, including a very special, loyal friend, Samuel Robinson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, in Littleton, NC.  Rev. Milton R. Solomon, Jr., will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Littleton. The body will repose at the funeral home from  3:00 – 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
