Henry Lewis Bowser


Henry Lewis Bowser, son of the late William Henry Bowser and Pauline Tillery Bowser, was born on October 31, 1942, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during his early life and joined the Simmons Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and established a successful career as a carpenter.

Henry was known for his unique craftsmanship and outstanding stories. His gift of painting and peddling could be seen all around the neighborhood as he filled the air with his sweet sounds of whistling and singing.

He was married to Betty Jean Mosley of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and God blessed their union with two children, Felica and Anthony.

In addition to his parents, Henry was also preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Burgess; and his niece, Sherry Elaine Lee.

Those left to share the treasured memories of his life and love are his children, Felica Adams (Gregory) of Raleigh, NC, and Anthony Bowser (Jamila) of Decateur, GA; a stepson, Quency Mosley of Newark, NJ; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Melissa Bowser of the home, Mablelean Newell (Ottra), Kary Bowser, and Rev. Julian Bowser  (Evelyn) all of Littleton, NC, Katherine Bowser, Ida Mae Bowser, Waverly Bowser (Elma), Willie Bowser (Sandra), and Linwood Bowser (Cassandra) all of Roanoke Rapids, NC;  one aunt, Angie Squire; one aunt-in-law, Liza Ann Bowser; one special brother-in-law, Larry Burgess; a devoted great-niece, Vanessa Bowser; his best friend, Carlton Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Simmons Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Rev. George E. Battle will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
