GERALDINE JOHNSON was born to the late Waldo Johnson and Lillie Mae Belle Johnson on May 6, 1953, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She answered God’s call to eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Geraldine accepted Jesus Christ during her early life and later joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where she remained an active member until ill health prevailed.
Geraldine received her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System and graduated from the former Eastman High School in Enfield, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by one son, Jessie Lee Johnson; one sister, Janet Howard; and her fiancée, Willie B. Burgess.
Loved ones remaining to share the cherished memories of her life are her son, Willie Johnson (Tammy) of Littleton, NC; three grandchildren, Willie B. Reid, Myra Reid, and Kimyah Taylor all of Littleton, NC; two great-grandchildren, Jermiah and Avarie Reid of Littleton, NC; one granddaughter-in-law, Katlyn Nielsen of Littleton, NC; one grandson-in-law, Tyrese Jones of Littleton, NC; a special niece, Anne Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a special young lady, Kristen Taylor of Littleton, NC; four sisters, Pearlene Johnson of Littleton, NC, Hazel Nicholson and Velma Johnson of Enfield, NC, and Sue Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers, Walter and Ernest Johnson of Littleton, NC; one uncle, Joe Johnson of Enfield, NC; one aunt, Nora Jordan of Queens, NY; a special neighbor, Brenda Alston of Littleton, NC; a special nephew-in-law, Donnell Burgess of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 26, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Because of Covid-19 and CDC guidelines, only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
A family committal will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 127 Rock House Road, Littleton, NC.
