FRED ARTHUR TAYLOR was born on September 28, 1949, in Warren County, North Carolina, to the late Herbert Taylor and Daisy Harrington Taylor. He departed this earthly life to enter his heavenly home on Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Durham Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina after a long illness.
Fred was educated in the Warren County Public School System. After high school, he relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where he became employed with the Detroit Diesel Company. He later enlisted in the United States Army, served for three years, and completed one of his tours in Viet Nam during the war.
On January 23, 1971, Fred was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Dorothy Mills, whom he met in North Carolina, when she was visiting her grandmother. God blessed this union with three children, Angela, Tarsha, and Jessica. The couple decided to settle down and make their home in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received employment with the Mass Transit Administration and remained dedicated and loyal for thirty-eight years. He also worked for the Thurgood Marshall Airport, AKA, B.W.I.
After Fred’s many accomplishments in life, he retired from the workforce and returned to North Carolina, the place he loved so well.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica.
Those remaining to mourn their loss and treasure the many precious memories of his life are his beloved wife, Dorothy M. Taylor of the home; two daughters, Angela Hargrave and Tarsha Taylor of Baltimore, MD; one son, Travis Taylor; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Breauntay, and Tyron; and two great-grandchildren, Destinee and Morgan all of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Shirley Falcon (William) of Henderson, NC, Ernestine Pierce of Louisburg, NC, and Clementine Ayscue of Philadelphia, PA; nine brothers, Herbert Taylor, Leroy Taylor (Maxine), and William Taylor all of Vaughan, NC, Charles Taylor (Pat) of Littleton, NC, David Taylor (Renee)
of Macon, NC, James Taylor and Ernest Taylor of Vaughan, NC, Harold Taylor (Doris) of Richmond, VA, and Alvin Taylor (Kim) of Macon, NC; four other sisters-in-law, Shirley Brown, Caroline Mills, and Denise Mills all of Baltimore, MD, and Celestine Johnson (Louis) of Savannah, GA; one other brother-in-law, Ronnie Mills (Celestine) of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 18, 2017, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Elder Fred Martin, Jr. will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Odell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1763 Embro Odell Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, March 17, 2017, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.
