Frankie Mae Nicholson Richardson

FRANKIE MAE NICHOLSON RICHARDSON, daughter of the late Sallie Nicholson, was born on July 22, 1934, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life and entered her Heavenly home on Friday, September 11, 2020, in the serenity of her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.

Frankie accepted Jesus Christ during her early life, was baptized, and joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.  She attended her church worship services regularly until declining health prevailed,  and she always enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends.

As a young lady, Frankie met the love of her life, Basie Richardson. They were united as one on January 3, 1953, and shared sixty years of marriage together until his death on June 20, 2013.  She was a homemaker, a loving wife, and a devoted mother.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Henrietta Burgess and Evelyn Richardson; one granddaughter, Pamela Burgess; two great-granddaughters, Lola Harvey and Jamiyah Richardson; and her brothers, Howard and Richard Nicholson.

Treasured memories of her life and love will forever remain in the hearts of her seven children, Joyce Neville (Kenneth), Susan R. Phipps, Stacey Richardson, Marcile Richardson (Avery), Basie Richardson (Jenna), Bettie Ingram, and Gloria Evans (Jonathan); her children-of- the-heart, Alvin Edwards, James Lee (Charlane), Willie Mae Harvey (James), Shorn Williams, Sue Hendricks, Lillie Fields, and Mary Alston; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Doretha Norman; her sisters-in-law, Caroline Nicholson, Eloise Batchelor, Irene Pullen, and Lucinda Alston; her brother-in-law, Salbert Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at the Crestview Memorial Cemetery, 489 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Pastor Rev. Dr. Vernon Bryant will deliver the eulogy. Because of Covid-19, the CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by limiting the number of persons in attendance. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 5:00-7:30 P.M. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time. In lieu of flowers, please share a special, loving memory with the family.
