DEACONESS EULA MAE FAULCON ALSTON was born to the late Johnny Faulcon, Jr. and Lula Brown Faulcon on May 28, 1924, in Littleton, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home on Friday, November 24, 2017, in Henrico, Virginia.
Eula grew up in a Christian home where prayer meetings and Bible study were regular home activities. She learned to love the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the tender age of nine years old. She was baptized, joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, and was an active member of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Deaconess Ministries. While in Henrico, Virginia, she diligently attended Saint Paul’s Baptist Church under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, Dr. Lance Watson. She was greatly admired by many for her kind and loving spirit.
Eula received her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System. After graduating from high school, she entered Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Home Economics. She later received her Elementary Education Teaching Certificate from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and also studied at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. She thoroughly enjoyed her work in the field of education and taught students in North Carolina, Ohio and Georgia.
On December 23, 1951, Eula was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. Walter Raleigh Alston, who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with a daughter, Michele, and a son, Walter Willis. The family enjoyed vacationing together as they traveled around the country.
Those remaining to forever cherish her precious memory are her daughter, Dr. Michelle Hines of Fayetteville, NC; her son, Walter Alston (Brenda) of Henrico, VA; six grandchildren, Akil Hines, Almasi Hines (Anneke), Allanah Hines, Walter Alston, Jr. (Kionnon), Isaiah Alston, and Delsin Alston; four great-grandchildren, Akilah Hines, Kuoni Hines, Cam’ron Alston, and Caleb Alston; three sisters, Lorene F. Carter and Mary Jane Faulcon of Littleton, NC, and Lula F. Monds of Durham, NC; one brother, Rev. Dr. Linwood Faulcon of Reidsville, NC; one sister-in-law, Phenon M. Faulcon of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. C.E. McCollum, will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing and visitation will take place at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
