ELLEN MARIE WILLIAMS JARRELLS was born to the late Mattie Brown and Tommie Williams on May 1, 1937, in Warren County, North Carolina, and lived most of her life in Littleton, North Carolina, until her health declined. She answered God’s call to eternal rest and peace on Thursday, April 4, 2018, at her home in Clayton, North Carolina.
Her formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System. She loved to worship and fellowship at the Refuge Church of Christ in Littleton, North Carolina.
Ellen dedicated her life to caring for her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She had a passion for cooking, sharing words of wisdom and encouragement, and being the glue that held the family together through any circumstances. Her grandchildren gave her the name, “Oatmeal Lady” and patented her as cooking the best oatmeal in the world.
Ellen had an unconditional love and desire to serve the Lord and her fellowman. Her kind deeds will never be forgotten, and she will be forever remembered as being loving, soft spoken, very patient, and for never turning anyone away who was in need. A treasured gem has taken wings and journeyed to her Heavenly home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Jarrels; four brothers, Milton, Percy, George, and Jessie; three sisters, Mary, Bertha, and Evelyn; two nephews, Larry “Gus” Dowtin and Percy Williams, Jr.; one niece, Pam; and one great-niece, Keisha Dowtin.
Those remaining to forever cherish her sweet spirit and treasure the beautiful memory of her life are her daughters, Brinda Williams of Clayton, NC, and Deboria Williams. Joyce Williams, and Doris Boyd (Robert) all of Littleton, NC; eleven grandchildren, Sable, Chaundra, Shetarra, Shannon, Latory, Casey, Jr, Jessica, Shadae, Samone, Jereka, and Stefan; thirteen great-grandchildren; her nieces, Barbara, Eloise, Mary Ruth, Doris, Millicent, Sheryl, and Cindy; her nephews, Richard, Samuel, Micah, and Reuben; one sister-in-law, Florence; and a host of loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Refuge Church of Christ, 4062 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Pastor, Elder Fred Martin, Jr. will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. A Visitation will be held at the church from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
