Deisha Raquel Pitchford Couch

DEISHA RAQUEL PITCHFORD COUCH departed this earthly life and entered the heavenly realm on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. She was born to Dora “Toot” Goins Pitchford and the late Marion “Sleepy” Pitchford on January 19, 1971, in Newark, New Jersey.

Deisha received her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System.

Those loved ones remaining to forever cherish the precious memories of her life are her son, Travonette’ Couch of the home; her mother, Dora Goins of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her sisters, Passion Collins (William) and Zaneta Goins of Littleton, NC; her loving fiance’, Johnny Moody of the home; her niece, Fantasia Collins of Littleton, NC; her maternal grandmother, Vercha “Maude” Goins High of Roanoke Rapids, NC;  five aunts, Barbara Batts (Larry) of Hampton, VA, Millie Walker of Staten Island, NY, Marguerite Pitchford of Fayetteville, NC, Viola Jones of Brooklyn, NY, and Betty Smith (Abe) of Birmingham, AL; two uncles, Waverley “Leon” Clanton (Julia) of Washington, DC, and Charlie Joe Pitchford (Goldie) of Las Vegas, NV; two great-aunts, Helen Ashe of Littleton, NC, and Bernetta Robinson of Newport News, VA; her sister of the heart, Kate Smid; her niece and nephew of the heart, Danielle and Nathan; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, Deisha was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sam Goins; her paternal grandparents, Sam and Naomi Pitchford; two paternal uncles, Roscoe Pitchford and Dorest ” Hayman” Pitchford; and her paternal aunt, Verona Pitchford Gee.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery #2, Johnson Mill Pond Road, Littleton, NC. Rev. Joseph L. Battle will deliver the eulogy. The family will gather at the funeral home at 12:15 P.M. Because of Covid-19, CDC guidelines will be followed for all services by limiting the number of persons in attendance.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Only five persons will be allowed to enter at any one time.
