CLIFTON “CLIFF” TAYLOR was born to the late Roy Taylor and Frankie Marie Alston Taylor on June 7, 1939, in Warren County, North Carolina. He transitioned from this earthly life on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, North Carolina.
During his early life, “Cliff” accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Enon Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Later in life, he transferred his membership to join his family at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where he served on the Usher Board. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.
“Cliff” became employed with the Town of Littleton for numerous years. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and tinkering to keep them running.
“Cliff” was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Nellie Tabron. God blessed this union with four daughters and a son he reared as his own.
In 2005, his health began to decline because of Alzheimer’s, and he became a resident of Accordius Health at Scotland Manor in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, “Cliff” was preceded in death by two daughters, Viola Taylor Brinkley and Anitta Taylor Johnson; his sister, Louise Taylor; and three brothers, Charlie Mack Taylor, Herman Clyde Taylor, and Harry Taylor.
His life will be forever cherished by his two daughters, Elaine Taylor of Littleton, NC, and Joyce Mason (Braaheem) of Las Vegas, NV; his son, Donnell Tabron (Carolina) of Panola, GA; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his other son-in-law, Rufus Johnson of Halifax, NC; one sister, Shirley Alston of Littleton, NC; two brothers, James Lee Taylor of Littleton, NC, and Matt Louis Taylor (Viola) of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. C.E. McCollum, will officiate, and burial will follow in the Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
