CHRISTOPHER LAMONT SILVER was born on August 18, 1974, in Nash County, North Carolina, to William Leon Silver and Caroline Martin Silver. He transitioned from this earthly home to his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 17, 2019, in Hampton, Virginia.
Christopher accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and joined the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
Christopher received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System and graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1992. He furthered his studies at Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina.
In November 1993, Christopher enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served nine years in the Supply Technician Journeyman Unit, traveled extensively throughout the United States and Abroad, and was honorably discharged from Active Duty in January 2003.
After completing his military service, Christopher felt the need to further his education in order to become a more productive citizen. He enrolled at Hampton College on the campus of Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2014.
Christopher was quiet, respectable, had a golden heart, and truly loved his family and friends. He always had an encouraging word for everyone with whom he came in contact. Each time he would leave your presence, he would say, “I Love You”. He enjoyed writing poetry, playing dominoes and cards, and was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the UNC Tarheels.
Christopher was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Haywood Silver; and his maternal grandparents, Levi and Annie Mae Martin.
Those remaining to forever cherish the precious memories of his life and love are his father, William Leon Silver (Sandra) of Hollister, NC; his mother, Caroline Martin Silver (Hall Melton) of Durham, NC; his son, Joseph Simmons of Pensacola, FL; his siblings, Leiya Silver of Hollister, NC, Ramon Silver of Southern Pines, NC, and Erica Evans and April Evans of Warrenton, NC; his grandmother, Hattie L. Silver of Hollister, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 8202 NC Highway 4, Littleton, NC. Rev. Elton Buffaloe will deliver the eulogy, and the Pastor, Rev. Jeffrey Anderson, will preside. Burial will follow in the Alston-Newell Family Cemetery, NC Highway 4, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Monday, October 21, 2019, from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
