Carolyn Lorraine Evans was called home to glory on Monday, August 28, 2017, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. She was born to the late Lewis Allen Evans and Frankie Byrd Evans on September 18, 1945, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
During her early life, Carolyn professed faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the London Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, and later joined the All Saints Episcopal Church.
Carolyn received her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System, and she attended the former John Armstrong Chaloner High School in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She furthered her education and received her undergraduate degree from Saint Augustine’s College (University) in Raleigh, North Carolina, and her graduate degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Carolyn was employed as a teacher and guidance counselor in Halifax and Nash counties for more than thirty years. She dedicated herself to being an advocate for all children.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Wright; and her brother, Robert Evans.
Loved ones remaining to forever share the precious memories of her life and legacy are her five sisters, Nora (Walter) of Richmond, VA, Brenda (Dennis) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Pat (Charles) of Durham, NC, Phyllis of San Antonio, TX, and Sandra (Willie) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one brother, Teresell of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration and fellowship gathering will be held from 2:00-4:00 P.M on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for Cancer Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678, in honor of Carolyn Lorraine Evans.
