CARLTON RENARD PITCHFORD, SR. was born to Charlie Joe Pitchford and Gloria Sledge Pitchford on July 10, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
Carlton received his formal education in the public school system of Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Erasmus High School and was a standout on the football team.
Carlton relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, and became employed with the Home Goods Department Store in shipping and receiving.
One of Carlton’s greatest pastimes was watching football, especially his favorite team, The New York Giants. But, he also cheered for The Carolina Panthers.
Those left with many fond and loving memories to cherish are his wife, Doris Campbell Pitchford of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Jessica and Jasmine Pitchford of Greenville, SC; one son, Carlton Pitchford, Jr. of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Karlee and Titan Pitchford of Greenville, SC; his mother, Gloria S. Pitchford of Brooklyn, NY; his father, Charlie Joe Pitchford (Goldie) of North Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Philip Stewart, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; two uncles, Henry Sledge, Jr. (Daphine) and James Wright; four aunts, Marguerite Pitchford, Millie Walker, Viola Jones, and Betty Smith (Abe); one great-aunt, Helen Ashe; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 14, 2018, in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr. will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the South Street Baptist Church Cemetery, Bacon Road, Littleton, NC.
