William Lester “Papers” Torain, Jr.

img026WILLIAM LESTER “PAPERS” TORAIN, JR., the son of Josephine Hockaday Torain and William Lester Torain, Sr., was born on August 23, 1987, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

At an early age, he was baptized and became a member of the Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.  His formal education was received in the Wake County and Warren County Public School Systems. He was employed for four years in a landscaping business owned by a special friend, Robbie.

In his spare time, he shared his passion for music. He genuinely loved his family and there was never a limit to the loyalty he displayed in order to show his strong family ties.

Those preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Myrtle Torain; his four uncles, Henry, Frank, Donnie and Sandy Torain; his great-uncle, James Coppage, passed away following his death.

His cherished memory will forever remain constant in the hearts and minds of his two lovely daughters, Zamariya Crum of South Carolina, and Zoey Torain of the home; his parents, Josephine H. Torain  of the home and William Lester Torain, Sr. of Roxboro, NC; three sisters, Angela Hockaday and Vanessa Alston of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Charlotte Torain (Charles) of South Carolina; five brothers, Thomas Torain of the home, Derrick Torain and William Torain (Nikki) all of South Carolina, William Torain (Jessica) of Roxboro, NC, and Tyrone Outlaw of Durham, NC; his maternal grandparents, Maryland and Mary Hockaday of Littleton, NC; seven aunts, Trina Murphy, and Helen McPhail (Jeffery) all of Littleton, NC, Francis Torain, Mary Torain, Henrietta Torain, Becky Davis (Frankie), and Connell Torain all of Roxboro, NC; five uncles, Maryland Hockaday, Jr. of Littleton, NC, Thomas Torain (Lee) and Ronnie Torain of Durham, NC, Ponzell Torain (Nancy), and Nathaniel Torain (Janie) all of Roxboro, NC; eight great-aunts, Leola B. Scoggins and Ruth B. Newman of Roxboro, NC, Pearline Wilson, Lucy Ann Alston, Lorraine Pitchford, and Bessie Baxter (Phil) all of Virginia, Helena Coley of Maryland, and Josebell Williams of Greensboro, NC;  one great uncle, John Coppedge (Hattie) of Littleton, NC; a special nephew, Patrick Williams; and a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins and friends, including his devoted friend, Keisha Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Bishop George Dobbin will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Only Way Community Church of Christ Cemetery in Vaughan, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, July 25, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
