Vondrell Lemar “Cash” Smith

CaptureVondrell Lemar “Cash” Smith was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, on May 13, 1985, to Phyllis Kay Smith and the late Kenneth Jerome Martin.  He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland.

During his early life, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and joined the Way of the Cross Apostolic Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Vondrell’s formal education began in the Halifax County Public School System at Everetts Elementary School and William R. Davie Middle School in Roanoke Rapids. He later relocated to Greenbelt, Maryland, where he attended Greenbelt Middle School and Roosevelt High School. He furthered his education by pursuing certifications in Masonry, Telephone Technician/ Fiber Optics, Small Business Management, and graduated from the Lincoln College of Technology as a certified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technician. He was employed by C & S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (Safeway) in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Sylvia Lorraine Smith Webb; his grandfather, Collin Daniels; four uncles, Ricky Martin, Christopher and Vance Daniels, and Glen Walker; and one aunt, Tammy Walker.

Those left to forever cherish the precious memories of his life are his mother, Phyllis Smith Vincent of New Carrollton, MD; his grandmother, Lola J. Daniels of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his stepfather, Samuel Ray Vincent of Fort Washington, MD; his stepmother, Rosa J. Martin of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his step-grandmother, Geneva Vincent of Littleton, NC; three sisters, Chanetta Smith Miller of Fort Washington, MD, Trina Boyd of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Kiteda Martin of Hampton, VA; three brothers, Damon Smith of New Carrollton, MD, and Kenneth and Kevin Martin of Hampton, VA; eleven nieces and nephews, Devon, Treyvon, Ty’Nijah, Jaquan, CaNaz, JeRonne, DaQuia, Kasia, JaDarrion, Darrius, and Jamaire;  nine aunts, Quentina Burgess (Eugene), Tondra Stallings (Michael), Marion Lindsay (Lawrence), Cassandra Bowser (Linwood), Barbara Cherry (Michael), Torelia Daniels, Gwendolyn Walker, Lavonia Webb, and Jeanette Boyd (Rev. Clinton); six uncles, Leon Smith, Rev. Alonzo Martin (Dorine), William H. Webb, III, Steven Daniels, Dan Walker (Sheyl), and Archie Daniels; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Orin Perry will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery, Davie School Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 10, 2014, from 7:00-8:30 P.M.
