TRAVIS “TJ” JOHNSON, SR., son of Lawrence C. Johnson, Sr. and Debora Kaye Webb Johnson, was born on January 4, 1976, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
During his early life, he confessed faith in Jesus Christ and joined the London Missionary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System, and attended Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina.
Travis was fun-loving and quiet-mannered. He always had something to say with a bright smile, and will be forever remembered as a loving, funny and caring father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His earthly presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His sweet spirit lives today and forever more in the hearts and minds of his devoted parents, Lawrence C. Johnson, Sr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Debora Kaye Webb Johnson of New York, NY; six adoring children, Trekel Hedgepeth, Samantha Dunlow, Alexis Johnson, Travis Johnson, Jr., Lelan Riggan, and Zakariah Riggan all of Halifax County, NC; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Agnes Johnson of Littleton, NC; his maternal grandmother, Mary E. Myers of Brooklyn, NY; three brothers, Lawrence C. Johnson, Jr., Fredrick Johnson, and Jerrod Johnson all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one sister, Jennifer Jones of Wilson, NC; a very special friend, Samantha James; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the London Missionary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Rev. Joseph L. Battle will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon -8:30 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2018, and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
