Tinsley “Hooley” Jefferson was born to Lucy Marie Alston Jefferson and the late Claude Jefferson, Sr. on July 25, 1945, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Scotland Manor Nursing Home in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.
His formal education was received in the public school system of Halifax County, and during his early life, he accepted Christ, was baptized, and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
In 1964, Tinsley was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Susie Mae Alston, who preceded him in death. Although he did not have children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews.
Tinsley loved animals, working on the farm, and enjoying the time he spent with his family and friends. His favorite hobbies included listening to music and dancing.
In addition to his father and his wife, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Claude Jefferson, Jr. and Calvin “Pike” Jefferson.
Those left with precious memories of his life are his mother, Lucy Marie Jefferson of Littleton, NC; ten sisters, Merdias Robinson (Henry), Janie Faulcon, Donna Mason (Jerry), Edith Taylor (Robert), Jeannette Lee, Daisy Alston (Elvis), Lorraine Jefferson, Susie Jefferson, and Bobbie Burchette (Thurman) all of Littleton, NC, and Linda Fields (Ivery) of Emporia, VA; one brother, Jerry Jefferson (Annette) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; another sister-in-law, Luriceise Brown of Littleton, NC; another brother-in-law, Curtis S. Alston of Littleton, NC; five uncles, five aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a very special friend, Lucy Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 127 Rock House Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev.Will C. Tabron will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
