Sallie Jarrell Hicks

Hicks_PhotoSALLIE JARRELL HICKS was born to the late James Jarrell and Laura Price Jarrell on June 6, 1914, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Sallie lived the majority of her life in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where she attended school, raised her children, and worshipped at the Simmons Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-four years, John Hicks, Sr.; her daughters-in-law, Annie and Lucille Hicks; and her great-grandson, Michael W. Banks, Jr.

Sallie lived a long and blessed life.  Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of her life and  to reflect upon the abundance of her love are her children, Fannie Benbow (Boston), Genia Williams (Curtis), John Hicks, William Hicks (Diane), and James Hicks; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren;  five great-great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Edith Blackwell-Jones and Dennie Lewter; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Danny Jones will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Jarrell Family Cemetery, Thelma Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. The body will repose for one hour prior to the funeral time.
