Russell June Shoulars

photoRUSSELL JUNE SHOULARS was born to the late John Shoulars and Virginia Whitaker Shoulars on November 24, 1941, in Rich Square, North Carolina, and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 27, 2014, in the serenity of his home in Littleton, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family.

During his early life, he professed faith in Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Rich Square, North Carolina. He later relocated to Paterson, New Jersey, where he attended several churches. Upon returning to North Carolina, he reunited with his home church. His formal education was received in the Northampton County Public School System.

On February 27, 1965, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Irma Manley. God blessed this union with three children. In addition, Russell was blessed with two older children from a previous relationship.

His career as a lightweight boxer spanned from 1963 until 1965. For many years, he was a trucker and became an independent businessman when he founded Shoulars Trucking with his son, Cleophus, in 1994.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Nello Shoulars (1962), George Lee Shoulars (1985), Sylvia Wilkins (1988), Bessie Shoulars (1992), and Leo Shoulars (1992); and his son, James Russell Price (2011).

Those left to mourn his loss and treasure the precious memories of his life are his devoted wife, Irma M. Shoulars of the home; four sons, Ricky Price of Mays Landing, NJ, Thadius Shoulars (Lised) of Haledon, NJ, Erskine Shoulars (Ericka) of Jersey City, NJ, and Cleophus Shoulars (LaToyha) of Paterson, NJ; three sisters, Janetta Walker of Washington, DC, Ethel Shoulars of Brooklyn, NJ, and Betty Riddick (Grady) of Paterson, NJ; a daughter of the heart, Patricia Lynch of Enfield, NC; three special, loyal friends, Thomas Arrington of Jackson, NC, Larry Petway, his fishing buddy, of Littleton, NC, and Arceloius Phillips, also his cousin, of New Jersey; his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in the Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Tommy Arrington will eulogize, and the entombment will follow in the Crestview Memorial Cemetery, 489 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, August 1, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
