Regina Hope Alston was born on December 21, 1959, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to Philip Key Alston and Velma Boone Alston. She departed this earthly life on Monday, June 4, 2018, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
During her early life, Regina accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized, and became a member of the Enon Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
Regina’s formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and she graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1978. She then attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management in 1982. While at NC State, Regina was inducted into the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
After graduation, Regina became employed as the buyer of cosmetics and fragrances for the Belk Department Store at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was also named Assistant Store Manager at the downtown Belk store in Raleigh. After many years, she joined The News and Observer team in Raleigh as a Media Consultant and remained loyal and dedicated until ill health prevailed.
Regina loved life. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. They were “her babies”, and she always shared encouraging words to inspire and motivate them. They adored her! Regina enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and sharing with others. In her generous giving, she was sure to personalize each gift with thoughtfulness and much love.
Regina was preceded in death by her father, Philip Key Alston; two brothers, Julius Percell Alston and Dexter Jeffery Alston; and her sister-in-law, Lillie Harris Alston, who all left beautiful memories to cherish.
Regina’s sweet spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her mother, Velma Boone Alston of Littleton, NC; her brothers, Philip S. Alston of Littleton, NC, and Clayton G. Alston of Fayetteville, NC; her sisters, Joyce E. Leak (William M.) of Fayetteville, NC, and Beverly A. King (Reginald) of Moline, IL; her nieces, Tanya, Keisha, Maria and Jasmine; her nephews, Brian, Tyrus, Timothy, Vincent, Jeffery, Patrick, Darius, and Tyler; her great-nieces, Danielle, Aaryanna, Maleia, Aniya, Keyani, Mariah, Lelia, Amilia, August, Aaryn, Mercedes, Nylia, Najla, and Melanya; her great-nephews, Jamir, Cormani, Jayden, Daniel, and Mason; her maternal aunt, Dorothy Boone of Littleton, NC; her maternal uncle, Calvin Boone (Louise) of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who will all miss her earthly presence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. James E. Clanton, Jr. will officiate, and burial will follow in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, 325 Moore Street, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2018, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.
