Pollie Ailene Williams

POLLIE AILENE WILLIAMS went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, Virginia. She was born on August 1, 1929, in Warren County, North Carolina, to the late S. Maryland Williams and Katie P. Williams.

Pollie received her formal education in the Warren County Public School System, and she graduated from the former Hawkins High School in Warrenton, North Carolina. She furthered her studies at St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and later became employed with the Oxford Orphanage in Oxford North Carolina, and the North Carolina school system.

Pollie accepted Jesus Christ during her early life and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in the Arcola Community of Warrenton, North Carolina. She was an active member and served as pianist and music director for many years. She loved children and enjoyed working with the Busy Bee Choir. Not only did she use her musical talent at her own church, but she also served as pianist for other community churches before relocating to Hampton, Virginia.

Pollie’s sweet spirit was demonstrated throughout her life. She sought the good in the world of learning and eagerly passed it along to many determined, flourishing youth. Her vision to inspire others embraced her God-given talents and her overflowing abundance of selfless service.

In addition to her parents, Pollie was preceded in death by her brothers, Carlton N. Williams and James M. Williams.

Those loved ones remaining to forever memorialize the legacy of her life and share the lasting expressions of her love are her devoted sister, Eliza M. Carter; her nieces, Viola M. Johnson, Vanessa A. Carter, and Marilyn F. Carter; her nephews, Michael N. Carter (Gloria), and Kevin A. Carter, Sr. (Stacey); and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in the Arcola Community of Warrenton, North Carolina. Rev. Will C. Tabron will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 1:00 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.
