MILTON CARL “DUKE” PATTERSON was born on January 15, 1940, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the late John Patterson and Cora Williams Patterson. He was the baby of the ten children born to this union.
During his early life, he confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and became a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.
For many years, “Duke” was employed as an Agricultural Engineer with many local land owners in Halifax County. He loved his work and remained focused, loyal, and dedicated. As the years progressed and other incidents occurred, his health began to falter, yet he continued to be filled with laughter and always enjoyed eating a good meal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, India Saunders, Carrie Moore, Marie Terry, and Dorothy Taylor; and his three brothers, Henderson, Roger, and Willis Patterson.
“Duke” departed this earthly life on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Signature Health Care of Roanoke Rapids in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Those left to forever cherish the precious memory of his life are three sisters, Viola Ruff of Reston, VA, Susie Alston of Philadelphia, PA, and Bessie Alston of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 6154 Bowers Road, Littleton, NC. Minister Antonio Alston will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
