Mary Elizabeth Weinberg Lewis was born on September 15, 1916, in Mollusk, Virginia, of Lancaster County, to the late Charles Weinberg and Marie Howard Weinberg. She completed this earthly journey and went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 9:45 A.M.
During her early life, Mary united with the Queen Esther Baptist Church in Mollusk, Virginia, and attended faithfully.
Mary was educated in the Lancaster County Public School System and attended Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. She became employed as a teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System.
In 1933, Mary was united in marriage to Bernard C. Lewis, who preceded her in death. God blessed this union with one son, Bernard Lewis.
Mary always displayed a great love for children, and will be forever remembered for her warm, delightful smile.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Derrick Lewis.
Her loving memory will always be cherished by her son, Bernard Lewis; her daughter-in-law, Louise Lewis; two grandsons, Gregory and Kendall Lewis; one great-granddaughter, Laytora; and a host of cousins and friends.
A Graveside rite will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Woodlawn Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 2130 Woodlawn Drive, Gwynn Oak, Maryland.
