MARY ELIZABETH BROWN DOWTIN was born to the late Mattie Brown on February 11, 1926, in Warren County, North Carolina, and was called to eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Her formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System, and she was a member of the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mary lived a fulfilled life and impacted everyone through her joyful laughter, her keen wit, her tasty cooking, her stunning beauty, her elegant style, her voice of wisdom, her unconditional love, and her true passion to serve the Lord. Although gone, she will never be forgotten and will forever be greatly missed until we meet again with our sweet mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; her son, Larry; and her granddaughter LaKysha, whom she dearly loved and missed greatly.
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memories of her life and love are her three daughters, Barbara, Eloise, and Mary Ruth (Maurice); three sons, Samuel (Lizzie), Micah (Ernestine), and Reuben; twenty-one grandchildren: Sharesa, Cornelius, Denita, Rodney (Cree), Kimberly (Thomas), Marc, Kenneth, Danny, Telvin (Chanita), Cynika, Tameka, Micah, Leontre (Paquita), Sha’Brittany, Chasity (Markevion), Derrick, Jerry, Quinesha, Michael, Paris, and Shauna; over thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; her sister, Ellen; two sisters-in-law, Josie Mae & Florence; nine nieces: Celestine, Doris, Millicent, Sheryl, Cindy, Brenda, Joyce, Deborah, and Doris; two nephews, Richard and Shawn; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, church members, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton, NC. Minister James Harris will offer words of encouragement, and burial will follow in the Refuge Church of Christ Cemetery in Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 1:00 – 8:30 P.M. on Friday, August 18, 2017.
