MARTHA MAE HARDY JOHNSON, the second of the seven children of the late Ivey Hardy and Virginia Powell Hardy, was born on December 8, 1948, in Warren County, North Carolina. She answered God’s summon to eternal rest and peace on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Transition Hospice Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Her formal education was received in the public school system of Halifax County, North Carolina. She graduated with the class of 1967, from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina, and was an outstanding basketball player.  She then relocated to New York, where she met and married Jeff Johnson.

Martha was outgoing and enjoyed being around people. She loved to dance, style hair, and watch sports. She had a deep unmovable love for children and spoiling them was one of her greatest inspirations.

She leaves standing on the shore her two sisters, Carolyn and Linda; her brother, Ivey; her nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the funeral home. Rev. Robert L.
