MANUEL FLOYD FLEMING quietly transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home with the Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was born to the late Cleveland Fleming and Lena Mae Hawkins Fleming on January 25, 1969.
During his early life, Manuel accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and became a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1988. He was currently employed with Cummins of Whitakers, North Carolina.
In March 2009, Manuel was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Virginia Ann Lee, and he willingly accepted the role as Dad and Grandpa. His favorite pastimes included fishing, taking trips, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Burma Lee.
Those left to cherish the memory of his life and share the legacy of his love are his devoted wife, Virginia Ann Fleming of the home; two sons, James Simmons III and Glenn Carter of Littleton, NC; three grandchildren, Jakaila Simmons, Caiden Simmons, and Nyjae Carter; his siblings, Cleve Fleming, Sr. of Henderson, NC, Tina Goins (Richard) and Ricky Newell, Sr. all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Rev. Leon Abbott of Henrico, NC; his mother-in-law, Katie Lee of Littleton, NC; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Carter of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Glenn Carter (Elaine) of Littleton, NC; six nieces, Derika, Tameka, Lateka, Shanique, Kandrain, and Briana; three nephews, Ramon, Keith, and Cleve, Jr.; one aunt, Jennie Milton of Richmond, VA; his goddaughter, Neveah Carter; two sisters of the heart, Juanika Richardson and Tonya Jefferson; other nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends who all loved him very much and will greatly miss his earthly presence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Timothy Edwards will officiate, and burial will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Roanoke Chapel Church Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M.
