MANDY DICEY ALSTON MILLS, daughter of the late Robert Davis and Mamie Davis, was born on June 26, 1939, in Halifax County, North Carolina. After a lengthy battle with Alzheimers, she peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the comfort of her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, surrounded by her loved ones.
Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System. She enjoyed caring for children and will be long remembered for the genuine love she shared with others.
In addition to her parents, Dicey was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Alston; two brothers, Howard Alston and her twin, Nelson Alston; and her three sisters, Loretta, Ida, and Shirley.
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memories of her life and reflect upon the abundance of her love are her husband, Joe Louis Mills of the home; her three children, Deloris Mills of Raleigh, NC, Cynthia Mills of the home, and Michael Mills (Tammy) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; seven grandchildren, Marquita McGee( Derrick), Tara Williams (McCarroll), Camita, Michael, Jr., Aaron, Shakiyla, and Kadijah; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Tony Davis of Roanoke Rapids, NC; four sisters, Clara Shearin (Walter), Hazel Rooks, and Debra Davis all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Sheilah Coley of East Orange, NJ; three sisters-in-law, Vivian Mills of Emporia, VA, Annie Mills of Weldon, NC, and Mary Mills of Hempstead, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Jack Reese, Jr., will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, June 6, 2014, and at the church for one hour prior to funeral time.
