LINDA LORRAINE RAINEY PIERCE was born to the late George Wilson Rainey and Cellaneous Baker Rainey on July 5, 1948, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life and entered the Heavenly realm on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
During her early life, Linda professed faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of the Carters Chapel Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She later changed her membership to the Twilight Missionary Baptist Church in Weldon, North Carolina.
Linda received her formal education in the public schools of Halifax County, North Carolina. She attended the former John Armstrong Chaloner High School in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and later graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina.
On April 15, 1967, Linda was united in Holy Matrimony to Daryl Gene Pierce, and God blessed this union with three children. She was a loving devoted wife and mother whose greatest joys included gatherings and special times with her family whom she truly adored, traveling to New Jersey to visit family members, and enjoying life at the beach.
Linda became employed at Walmart in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and retired after fifteen years of loyal service. She had a positive impact on the many lives she encountered on a daily basis, and will be forever remembered for her warm smile, her sweet spirit, and her unwavering faith in God.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Doretha Rainey.
Treasured memories of her life and the legacy of her love will remain embedded in the hearts of her husband, Daryle Gene Pierce of the home; her children, Tuwana P. Jones (Danny) and Gregory Eugene Pierce all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Darren Pierce (Cynthia) of Wilson, NC; her brother, George Rainey (Gloria) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her sister, Joyce Rainey of Roanoke Rapids, NC; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her in-laws, Elaine West, Doris McNair, Jonathan Pierce (Mary), and David Earl Pierce; her special friends, Stephanie Salmon, Tara Little, and Velma Knight; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Twilight Missionary Baptist Church, 1781 Aurelian Springs Road, Weldon, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Danny Jones will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Manley Family Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 –7:00 P.M. Repose will also be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
