LEROY ALSTON, JR. was born to the late Leroy Alston, Sr. and Mariah Bert Alston on December 12, 1948, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He transitioned from this earthly life to enter the Heavenly realm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
During his early life, he accepted Jesus Christ into his life, was baptized, and joined the Odell Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System.
Leroy was employed at the former J.P. Stevens and Company in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, for over forty years, and later worked for five years at Halifax Regional Medical Center of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, until health prevailed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Robert Alston; and one sister, Sarah Madison.
Leroy’s precious memory will be forever cherished by his two daughters, Wendy Johnson (Calvin) of Littleton, NC, and Chenal Harris of Greenville, NC; his son, Franklin Hockaday (Beverly) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Sanders (Michael) of Raleigh, NC, and Claytee Marshall (Leo) of Norfolk, VA; one aunt, Elizabeth Forte of Littleton, NC; one uncle, Clinton Alston of Baltimore, MD; seven nieces, four nephews, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; his caretaker and friend, William Watson; and his cousin who also took good care of him, Ida Pearl Rosser.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 15, 2018, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. John Rooks will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Odell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1763 Embro Odell Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral time.
