Katherine Bowser

KATHERINE BOWSER, daughter of the late William Bowser and Pauline Tillery Bowser, was born on November 5, 1946, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Signature Healthcare Nursing Home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

During her early life, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Simmons Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where she remained a faithful dedicated member until her health began to fail.

Her education was received through the Halifax County Public School System. The majority of Katherine’s career was as a stay-at-home mom, although for a short period, she was employed with Days Inn Suites in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She then enjoyed the previlage of caring for her grandchildren.

Katherine was a devoted mother who showered her only child with her love, and encouraged her to always pursue her goals. She was well- known for her delicious fried chicken and homemade biscuits, and loved cooking alongside her sister, Melissa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Elaine Bowser Lee; her son-in-law, Marvin Lee, Sr.; her sister, Elaine Bowser Burgess; and her brother, Henry Bowser.

Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of her life are her grandchildren, Victoria and Vanessa Bowser of the home, and Marvin Lee, Jr., Malik Lee, Elijah Lee, and Trinity Lee all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; five great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Rev. Julian Bowser (Evelyn) and Mabelean Newell (Ottra) of Littleton, NC, Melissa Bowser, Waverly Bowser (Elma), Kary Bowser, Ida Bowser, Willie Bowser (Sandra), and Linwood Bowser (Cassandra) all of Roanoke Rapids, NC;  her great-aunt, Eliza Ann Bowser of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her brother-in-law, Larry Burgess (Leona) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her daughter-in-law of the heart, Jessica Lee of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2016,  at Simmons Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The pastor, Rev. Nehemiah Smith, Jr., will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, until 8:30 P.M.
