Julia Lynn Harvey Alston

Our sweet Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called our loving mother, Julia Lynn Harvey Alston, to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was born to Vernisha Harvey and the late Joe Lewis Harvey on July 17, 1963, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

During her early life, she accepted Jesus Christ and became a member of the Saint Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the Public School System of Halifax County where she graduated from Northwest High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1981. After attending Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina, she completed studies and graduated from the former Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia.

Lynn established a career as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and was employed with Able Home Health Care, Bright Smiles, and Life Corporations until ill health prevailed. She loved helping people, had a positive impact on the lives with whom she came into contact, and maintained many lasting friendships.

She loved planting flowers and cutting grass, but most of all, she adored her family and enjoyed the special times they spent together.

Those remaining to forever share the precious memories of her life and love are her four children, Freeman Harvey (Shereal) and Javarries Harvey of Littleton, NC, Keynedria Harvey of Warrenton, NC, and Jessie Alston of Littleton, NC; seven grandchildren, A’Shauna Harvey, Freeman Harvey, Jr., Antwan Harvey, Jamarries Harvey, Adrianna Harvey, Kylil Moore, and Laila Williams; her mother, Vernisha Harvey; Six sisters, Carolyn Thorne (Larry), Sharon Harvey, Ernestine Faulcon, Robin Alston (Greg), Virginia Fleming (Manuel) and Nicole Kearney; four brothers, Joe Harvey, Bernard Harvey, Luke Harvey, and Ronnie Lee (Mary); a very special friend, Kathy Fields; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Edwards will officiate, and burial will follow in the Saint Luke Baptist Church Cemetery, Bowers Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2015.
