Joseph Jacobs

JOSEPH JACOBS transitioned from this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Signature Health Care of Roanoke Rapids in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was born on April 1, 1934, in Mullins, South Carolina, to the late Gary Jacobs and Alafair Owens Jacobs.

Joseph was educated in the public schools of Marion, South Carolina, and Baltimore, Maryland. During his early life, he gave his life to Christ and attended the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Mullins, South Carolina.

On February 14, 1954, Joseph was united in marriage to the former Hattie Virginia Faulcon in Baltimore, Maryland, and experienced a beautiful union of over forty-nine years before she preceded him in death.

Joseph was a steel worker at Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point for numerous years, ultimately becoming a millwright. After his retirement, he and his wife relocated to Littleton, North Carolina, and he became employed with the Town of Littleton and later at Hardee’s in Littleton. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 425 in Littleton.

Joseph never met a stranger and became a friend to everyone he met. His cheerful, kind-hearted spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He enjoyed sitting on the porch, watching television, and having a good time with family and friends. His greatest joy was in raising his great-nephew, Ramon Plaza, who was basically his son. When his wife, Hattie, gained her Heavenly wings, he vowed to continue their great calling in life.

Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of his life and to share the legacy of his love are his dedicated great-nephew, Ramon Plaza of the home; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Huggins (William) of Baltimore, MD; his brother-in-law, Jesse J. Faulcon of Baltimore, MD; a special friend, Margie Deloatch of Sanford, NC; his godson, Jamal Smith of Baltimore, MD; his devoted niece, Sharri Plaza of Littleton, NC; his cousins, Thomasina O. Jones of Danville, VA, and Linda D. Neal of Mullins, SC; two very loyal friends, Calvin “Clay” Powell of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Eugene Carter of Littleton, NC; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. C. E. McCollum, will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home on Friday, March 15, 2019, from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 -7:00 P.M. The body may also be viewed at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
