John Douglas Pullen answered God’s call to eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born to Dorothy Arrington Pullen and the late Shirley Dessie Pullen on September 13, 1960, in Halifax County, North Carolina.
John’s formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from the former Eastman High School in Enfield, North Carolina, with the class of 1978.
John enjoyed fishing, loved his family, and no one was a stranger to him. He would always say, “One day above the dirt is always outstanding”.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles.
Those left to forever treasure the precious memories of his life are his daughters, Latonya Davis (Antonio), Latoya Arrington, and Tamika Squire all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his loving mother, Dorothy Arrington Pullen of Enfield, NC; one devoted sister, Patricia Marie Pullen of Enfield, NC; three brothers, Freddie, Steven, and Timothy Pullen all of Enfield, NC; nine grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A Graveside Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Bear Swamp Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 16670 NC Highway 48, Littleton, NC. Minister Sallie Twine will officiate.
